A man told me once, “you can never have a friend if you have never been a friend!” David Johnson knew how to be a friend. When you need to speak about a sensitive matter, he would lend an ear. When you needed the straight truth, he would let you know without letting you down.
David was a worldly man with a common touch. David knew my father my brothers and my family. When my brother died and was brought home from Europe, David was there for my family.
As I have let my friend around the world know of David’s passing the grief was palpable from folk who had just once met David. David will be sourly missed but never forgotten.
David Johnson was my friend.
